Windows in my condo townhome were vandalized and I had it replaced with more secure ones.
Now property manager tells me that according to declarations I need to remove these and replace with windows of the same kind and colour. Is it possible to get an exception or declaration changed? How do you go about this?

usually windows and doors are COMMON property, thus paid for by the condo corp.

You can`t just change windows or doors as it changes the look and feel of the building/complex !

To get condo rules changed you need a majority at an AGM usually.

Sounds like your in a bareland condo situation. Its similar to a HOA saying everyone has to have cedar shingle roofs or garage doors painted a certain colour. Thomas is right, in that you need 75% of the unit factors and owners to vote with you. Its a brutual process, because you actually need people to vote. Every none vote counts against you.

Therefore, you can try and do this, but I have a hard time believing this is a good way for you to spend your time. Try and work with the pm so everyone is happy.

A side note: many condo corporations also have rules as to whether after-market tinting is allowed on windows, as well as what type and shade is allowed.
