Excel Calculations for Principal Paydown and Mortgage Balance Remaining

I am currently working on a property analyzer and was wondering....

What is the excel formula to calculate principal pay-down total after x number of years.

AND

the formula for mortgage balance remaining after x number of years.

I know how to get this from an amortization schedule but I find it clumsy flipping back and forth between different programs.

I have found Boris` posts to be extremely informative in the past (Thanks Boris) and am wondering if anyone can help with this.

Rob, I posted one here.

As I noted in my post, it does have a wrinkle that I cannot figure out how to correct. It makes one extra payment after the principal has been repaid. If I figure out how to correct that, I will do so and let you know.
