Help with selling current home as income property

My family is moving to the High River area in the summer and we're thinking about selling our home as an income property, with the hope that we could rent it for a few months until we find a new residence. I know it sounds a little optimistic but I'm wondering if it's a sound strategy. Any thoughts..?
