140 jobs on line as Hamilton Health Sciences cuts up to $22m




Hamilton Health Sciences is preparing to cut costs by $15 million to $22 million.




About 140 jobs are expected to be affected by the gap between costs and provincial funding.

Target confirms Hamilton, Ancaster locations




Target Corp. has confirmed two Hamilton locations for future stores.




The U.S. retail giant says stores will open in South Hamilton Square at Upper James Street and Rymal Road in Hamilton and the Meadowlands Power Centre in Ancaster.

Thompson tackles oilsands in speech





Exploiting the oilsands is a balancing act between economic contribution, environmental sustainability and energy security, Don Thompson told a group of business people.




Thompson, executive adviser of sustainability and outreach for Canadian Oil Sands Limited and a longtime advocate for the oilsands, was speaking at a luncheon put on by the Great Saskatoon Chamber of Commerce.




"Canada's oil reserves are third in the world," he said, adding of those reserves 97 per cent are in the oilsands.
