New basement windows

I`m wondering if anyone has experience getting new basement windows cut and installed (surely someone does). Basically, there is a basement suite with windows that do not meet code that I would like to upgrade. What would a typical expense be for this? It would involve concrete cutting and some internal drywall/framing work.

Does anyone know a contractor in KWC that has experience with this?

Expensive, very expensive.
Factors to consider when pricing.
1. window location in relation to the existing grade(below ground, above, half and half)?
2. Surface of grade on exterior (interlocking, grass, poured concrete)?
3. how close to property line?
4. type of wall (block, poured concrete)?
5. accessibility of location (removal of dirt and rubble)?
6. how big is the window now and how big do you want it?
7. do you want a permit?

approximate price breakdown:
dig hole $400-600
remove dirt and rubble(bin) $300
Concrete cutting service if poured concrete $800
Window $300
window well $700-900 don`t believe me, check www.scapewell.com
connect to weeping tile (extremely important) $40
whatever the city requires for a lintel $100.
backfill $100
refinish exterior grade $?
As you can see, I left a few thing out, but you can see it adds up.
I`ve done about 6 of them for aprox 4K each.
I don`t do them anymore because there just isn`t any money in it at that price and 4K scares most people off.
I have some pics on my website of this proceedure www.andersonwindowsanddoors.ca
Make sure you ask any contractor for some pics of this proceedure specifically.
Sorry, i don`t have time for more details.
Good luck, Brian

Between $ 2,500 and $4,000 per window. DO NOT MISS PROVIDING A DRAIN TO THE WEEPING TILE (no drain, the water can go into your basement!).

I have a good concrete cutter. Email me tomrebstock(at) teksavvy.com
