The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) in the U.S. recently released the findings of their latest survey, which found overwhelmingly that Millennials (those born in the in the ‘80s and ‘90s) actually want single family homes in the suburbs, not a condo in the city centre.

Well of course the NAHB is going to say consumers want new in the suburbs. haha. It's a home builders association. And American. American suburbs are pretty different than an Edmonton 'suburb'.

The real question is where do Millennials want to rent?

Everyone prefers a house close to downtown or the beach (if Vancouver). As those are usually expensive they settle for a commute or a condo closer to action and work. Not sure if they are so different than us boomers.

Condos are an alternative if houses are too expensive, or too far out, or if no kids.
