Hi, I am new here and am just evaluating how REIN could benefit me. From what I have read so far most members seem quite pleased. One thing that I have noticed is that most of the discussions are about investments in western Canada. I am wondering if this site would benefit me since I am looking to invest in the Halifax area.

Thanks

Hi:

Joining REIN is absolutely worth it. I am involved in several real estate groups in the Toronto area, and REIN is by far the best. I invest in southern ontario, so regardless of where you invest the concepts are universal. Your whole perspective of real estate will be taken to another level all together and you will not regret the decision.

The concepts that REIN teaches can be applied anywhere in Canada. The hot spots right now tend to be in Alberta and Ontario, but there are many other locations that are doing well. Just do your due diligence, as REIN teaches.

I know that there are some members in the Halifax area, but they`d have to show themselves as I`m not sure exactly who they are. The advantage of this site is that you don`t have to be in Alberta or Ontario to reap the benefits of membership, as you can connect with anyone, anywhere.

I have been a REIN member since last spring and I can very easily say that REIN has helped pay my dues for the next 10 years+ already. Whether it be information or networking, you will get it here. Regardless where you are, REIN is a fabulous resource to have. I had purchased properties prior to joining, and I still think that it has helped me immensely!

If you are serious about being financially independent -it is a good idea. I do not attend all meeting but the CD`s and handouts work for me. It is a nice support group when you make large changes in your life, it gives you the education to make informed decisions which leads to confidence in decision making.

If this is what you are looking for it is a great idea

I am also interested in Halifax property... and will be re-locating out east eventually.

I am not yet a member of REIN, but have been on this chat forum for about 3 months and have learned a tone! In addition, I have just purchased the Quickstart Home Study program and am very eager to start it!!!

Hello!

I am from Prince Edward Island. I know how you feel... I had the same questions a year ago. We are now buying in PEI and Ontario...

Joining REIN was the best move we made so far...

We have learned and gained a tremendous amount of knowledge by being a REIN member (Banker`s binder, Time Management Toolkit, Joint Venture KIT, etc.) Just the Intranet itself is an incredible tool (Specially the REIN Members section)... You can always go to the monthly workshops, QuickStart Program, Bus tour if you have a chance...

Join REIN as a "mailing member". You just pay extra for workshops...you get access to all the research that REIN does, and you are sent recordings from the meetings, as well as the handouts.

Believe me my friend, if you are serious about your Real Estate Projects... JOIN REIN... this is the best ROI available on the market ;-)

N.B.: Let us know, we could schedule an "Atlantic meeting" to share experiences and best pratices... I know few members in the area...

Sincerely,

Francis Thériault

an UNEQUIVOCAL... YES!!!

I am a Lunenburger at heart and spent my adult years in Halifax, although my body resides in Vancouver at this time. It moved here about seven years ago.

I am a property manager by training, and have had a 30+ year career in the real estate industry. I have taught property management, pre-licensing and post-licensing courses in Nova Scotia. I have lost count of how many real estate courses and seminars I have taken. I can honestly say that I have never taken any real estate training programs that have been as helpful to me and my career as I have with REIN. No matter what your experience level you will end up knowing more than you can possibly imagine.

My son lives in Halifax now and is very interested in learning about and investing in real estate. I have suggested to him that it would behoove(sp??) him to attend the Quick Start weekend in Toronto in April.

Yes, much of the material is aimed at Ontario and Alberta... but that is just the imperical data. We can take the principles and apply them anywhere in the world... including NS.

I recommend that you join right away.

REIN is definitely the way to go if you want to learn a TON about investing in Canada!
Regarding Halifax, are there REIN members out there who have recently done the Goldmine scorecard?
Does anyone have professional contacts?

It has been seven years since I left Halifax, but many of my old contacts would still be useful. Anyone who wants names in the Halifax area should fee free to contact me.

I have had a 30+ year real estate career, and know many of the Haligonian players.

OK - so I might be a bit late on the reply to this looking at the dates from the posts.
I am living in Halifax, have done the goldmine scorecard and asked REIN team for feedback so waiting to see that I have done it right.
I have 1 property already and joined REIN in Apr09 after going to the TOR ACRE weekend. It is a definite must as I have had a huge amount of information and also learning since then. It has also opened up the world of where the money comes from once you personally run out!! JV`s!!!
Let me know if anyone wants to pick the brains on work I have done / knowledge I have about HFX market.

regards
Rich

Hi Dan,

I am living in Tantallon and am just looking to start my real estate career now as i`ve been educating myself through books and talking to other RE investors. I`m currently focusing 100% of what i do in learning more about acquring properties as my goal is to have my first income producing property of $75-150 per month (after all expenses, mort, ins, tax paid) by the end of the year. If you have some time, I could email you or call you directly as i would love to hear about your experiences, success and anything that may help me toward achieving my personal belize.

Sincerely,

Good day all on this thread. I lived in Halifax for 10 years. I am now back in Newfoundland, but would be interested to learn of any East Coast RE investment clubs or associations. Guess you can call me a budding investor, though I have been at it part time for over 5 years.

knowledge is very transferable .. but what you would not have is the monthly meetings unless you fly to one of the 4 cities where monthly meetings are held (Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton and Toronto) ..

Is the name "NDP" coincidence .. or meant to mock people ?

I associate NDP with: high taxes, rent control, socialist policies, landlords are bad, investors are bad, real estate profits are bad ..

Odd that the present (non-ndp) BC government seems quite comfortable with these policies! Where are the changes in rental policies, and why exactly is the land transfer tax still around, and how about the latest tax grab called HST?
