Hi all,

John Templeton died a few weeks ago at the age of 95. Following are his rules of investing which, I think, are pretty good guidance for a lot of areas.

  • Invest for maximum total return;
  • Invest - don`t trade or speculate;
  • Remain flexible;
  • Buy low;
  • Search for bargains among quality stocks;
  • Buy value, not market trends or the economic outlook;
  • Diversify;
  • Do your homework or hire wise experts to help you;Monitor your investments;Don`t panic;Learn from your mistakes;Begin with a prayer;Outperforming the market is a difficult task;An investor who has all the answers doesn`t even understand all the questions;There`s no free lunch;Don`t be fearful or negative to often.

Keith,

Great words of wisdom, from one of that all time greats of investing! These are words we should all be reminded of on an ongoing basis.

Definitely a loss to the global investing community! He certainly ranks as one of the greatest investors of our time along with Warren Buffet, Peter Lynch and George Soros.
