I have noticed that large successful investors such as Jimmy Patterson have been buying forestry companies big time. Someone is smelling an opporunity or maybe even a bottom.

Just a thought maybe they are buying these companies for the rights to the land ie crown lands mineral rights.

I`m familiar with that area (East Kootenay) since I own a property in Kimberley. Maybe its time for the mills to become more competitive in their operations since their employees are paid ridiculously high union wages while those working in the service and tourism industries - now a large part of the E. Kooteny economy - are paid a fraction of that.
