Utilities and Their Setup Fees

We have recently closed on three properties and with the transfer of the Utilities the admin fees where adding up pretty quickly. $50 for gas, $30 for electric, $30 for water and sewage and $30 for water heater.

One of the properties has two hot water tanks and one account for each tank. The utility wanted to charge $30 for each account. Of course I was not going accept this. I made sure I talked to the right people to have the one account setup fee waived. It’s always amazing when ask for things in civil manner and show some respect to those you are talking to, you usually get the results you want.

Has anyone had any luck in getting these account setup fees waived or discounted?

Are you able to set up with each provider one `master account` for all your properties? We have done that with our Alberta properties.
