Now that the Calgary Quick Start is around the corner, I thought I would ask what everyone`s favorite part of Quick Start is. I have attended a few now ( I need the repetition) and memorized most of the jokes (ha ha).

My favorite parts are:
Top 10 Towns
Belize

I"m still intimidated by networking since I am a novice and do not have as much wisdom to share so I`d rather be quiet and listen. I have so much to learn. The more REIN events I attend, the more impressed I am by the calibre of people around me.

I`d say the networking is the best part. I find that even as a novice, there`s non-REIN members that have a lot of questions that I can answer, and there`s tons of guru`s in the room that I can learn from. One or two "I never thought of it that way before" ideas is all that is required to make the entire weekend a hugely valuable use of my time.
And Don`s awesome
jokes, of course.

Absolutely the people. The research and the speakers are second on the list, but I love hanging out with everyone there. I`m kind of like Don in that my Belize involves teaching people about real estate.

OK OK, I get it. Time for a couple of new jokes!

Don`t worry Don, I still laugh (on the inside) at your old jokes because I think it`s hilarous how you can tell them like they are fresh.

My favorite part is when Don says not to take any potential J-V partners to McDonalds. I have actually taken them to the Golden Arches while having Filet Mignon O`Fish. They were impressed with my ability to cut costs while maintaining quality control.

I am clicking on your link to Don`s awesome
jokes, but it is not opening a browser and taking me there. Broken link?

I love talking and networking with the people that attend Quickstarts - it is so amazing the amount of positive energy that can fill such a small area, makes you feel like you can do anything!! Motivates me to do more and be better at whatever I do.

I just attended the first day of quick start. I really enjoyed myself. I am working on my Belize now. I am at the Westin lounge with some champagne and chardonnay. I figured it will help my creative juices flow. I was going to work out at the gym but took a detour. If anyone is staying at the same hotel, come say hello!

I loved it all. Yes, it was long days, but I learned so much and met some really fantastic people. I liked Don`s jokes. He`s kind of got the same sense of humor as me.
Among my favorite things....Peter Kinches presentations (because I was confused about the whole mortgage thing, and he really cleared up some questions that I was asking)
But my FAVORITE PART, was Don`s closing story yesterday. I guess I was feeling a little overwhelmed by all of the information and I was starting to doubt myself and my ability to go forward. I had written out my personal Belize the night before, but when Don was telling the story about when his Dad ended up in the hospital and he had to rush to Abbotsford. That is was really got me going again. He said, real estate gave him the time to spend with his Dad without worrying about missing time at work etc. I went through a similar situation with my parents. My Dad suffered for 2 years with cancer and Mom passed away 6 months later (with cancer and lonliness I think). I was 8 hrs away from home, living in Fort Mac and they were in Saskatchewan. I had to miss alot of time from work, and although my boss was 110% supportive of what I had to do, it was still in the back of my mind that I had to get back to work and not miss too much time.
All the time when writing my personal belize, I too wanted to have the freedom to get up and go where I was needed, but didn`t know how to put it in writing. When Don was telling us his story at the end of the day, he said exactly what I wanted to write on paper. Having the freedom to do what needed to be done and give 100% to my friends and family. Thank you for that Don. That`s what I needed to here to push myself forward.

Amazing!!! All of it was amazing this weekend. I met so many great people that have inspired me to get my business up and running and I agree with the motivating ending to the weekend. Don really put life into perspective with his story and it shows that if you do that extra 10%, life will provide so many more options for us all to enjoy.

Thanks Don and REIN Team! Awesome Job!!

It`s been awhile since my last post but I have to agree with the closing story being the best part for me. It definitely shared some elements of my Belize and touched on a lot of my motivations for doing this as well.

My second favorite part was bringing my `stock investor` friend and watching the synapses start to fire.

Wow,

Thank you for your post-Quickstart Messages. The energy that you all brought to the table (through the long days) made this one of the best ever.

I even had some new joke material as promised

But joking aside, please ensure that you put your new-found knowledge to great use and make a difference in your life, the life of your family and the community.

Thanks all for helping to raise over $26,000 for Habitat for Humanity during the Quickstart.

Please post your other insights and discoveries from the weekend on this thread... I`d love to hear them.

P.S. Got home after the Quickstart and got to watch European Championship soccer with Dad. Find a way to make real estate provide you with the freedom you want.

I am a new member of REIN right after Calgary Quickstart. I really really enjoyed Don`s strategies and approach to long-term real estate investment.

What I like the best is the fundamentalsand pro-active landlord. I am new at real estate investing, so having the fundamentals really help me understand the backbone of a city`s economy.

And of course, I got to network with people from different professions.

I CAN`T WAIT TO MAKE MY FIRST OFFER THIS SUMMER! I PROMISE

My goal is to purchase 3 properties by November. I have a serious 5-year plan to follow.
