Hi,

A few pieces of wood siding have popped out (perhaps due to cold weather). Is it important to get it fixed immediately? Or can I wait till the spring time?

Thanks.

With the wind gusts we have been having in the Toronto area, I would be concerned that your existing situation could get much worse (and more expensive) if the not taken care of now. I would have it taken care of ASAP.

I would agree that if left as is it will likley get much worse. Having said that it appeares to be vynal siding which is very easy to repair even by the inexperienced. It can be reached through the window making it possible to reattach the pieces and snap the upper pieces back into place.

Getting the siding fixed in a timely fashion would also show your tenants that you are a proactive land lord and care about your property.
Establishing and setting a reputation is also at stake when it comes to repairs.

Simple fix, you can even do it hanging out the window :-) I would fix asap, as wind could make that much worse quickly, then rain/melting snow.... you get the picture.

I agree that this looks like vinyl siding, and that, if you can reach it from the window, that is your quick fix.

The bottom of the top row of vinyl fits into a groove on the lower row. The installers use a special tool to make the connection. But, for a short run like that one, you should be able to do it by hand.

Fix the one of the left of the photo before you do the other one. It fits under the second piece, and needs to be done first.
