Canmore renters must pay $19,000 in damages after dog pee destroys carpet

The judgement is the first step in the right direction. It establishes accountability. Now we just need that judgement in Ontario.

    Ontario`s Feed–In Tariff - a Solar Investment?

Well, it`s something I`m definitely considering for the roof of the addition on our duplex. There`s quite a learning curve unless you`re willing to just lay out a pile of cash for a company to handle everything for you. I`m looking at this...

    Absolutly INSANE hydro bill

So, I`m thinking that if that house has the old style hydro meter with the wheel that turns, it`s spinning pretty good. What I`d do, some afternoon when I`ve got some time, is go to the breaker box, turn off a breaker, check the wheel to see if it`s slowed noticably. If not, flip the breaker...

Water Bill Doubled Following Neighbor’s Work on His Property

Water meters are located inside the premises, so it`s unlikely that he`s stealing water from you. More probably a dripping tap or slow leak somewhere.

    Book on Commercial Real Estate

I checked it out from the library. There was quite a waiting list. Guess I`m not the only cheap one out there. I liked it though.

QUOTE (EdRenkema @ Mar 6 2009, 11:16 PM) not to mention its geographical location as a transportation hub That means it`s commuting distance to Toronto, either by Go-Train or car, and that changes all the numbers. Windsor is commuting distance to... Detroit. Personally, I`m feeling very positive...

Commercial Real Estate Investing In Canada

Previous posts on same topic: http://myreinspace.com/public_forums/General_Discussion/61-9252-commercial_investing_book.html I've got it on hold at my local library. Been waiting since January. Seems to be a popular read. w

QUOTE (brentdavies @ Nov 26 2008, 11:29 PM) All Property Managers in Alberta must be licenced with the Real Estate Council of Alberta (RECA). If Yes, go to www.reca.ca and check licence status. Check out your current property manager. I`ve been unable to locate similar licencing information...

No bailout for teh Car Industry

They`re not failed capitalists, they`re just playing the game, as they see it, which I`m sure they understand much better than most of us. What they`re failing horribly at, is public relations. w

    Variable vs Fixed Interest Rates

I was talking to a RBC mortgage fellow tonight and he mentioned that they`ve lowered their variable rates. Checked their webpage and sure enough, they`re down from prime plus 1 to prime plus 0.6. Could it be the world is starting to flip back right-side-up again? Then I went to BMO`s site...

No bailout for teh Car Industry

QUOTE (CLW @ Nov 19 2008, 09:09 PM) Don't have an answer either, but these guys don't make it easy to have compassion for them: "Big Three auto CEOs flew private jets to ask for taxpayer money" http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/11/19/autos.ceo.jets/index.html They could be like Pierre...

September`s YOY Housing Price Index, 2008

Sorry to get away from Sask. but I`m wondering about St. John`s. The oil there is offshore and there`s not a lot of local refineries. It`s in the ship, just as easy to ship the crude anywhere. I can see local prices rising a bit from the offshore workers, but unless the rigs are built there, and...

    Property tax

I had this problem before with RBC. I went in and pointed it out to them. Reluctantly, they lowered the amount deducted and refunded some of the excess, but they still wanted a pretty fair margin over what was required. You can always just pay the tax bill yourself. w
